Miel Leslie

Miel Leslie grew up in rural northern Vermont, 3 miles off the grid. As a preteen she begged her parents for a propane powered curling iron, to no avail. After cutting, coloring, and styling friends' hair for 15+ years, she decided to make it official and relocated to Philadelphia to attend the Jean Madeline Aveda Institute. After learning the trade, she was excited to come back to the Valley and get hired on as part of The Firefly team!

Miel strongly believes that the pain caused by the corporate beauty industry is a serious detriment to the hearts and spirits of everyone living in western culture. Her calling is to empower people by helping them express and connect with their individual, innate and glorious beauty. She loves working with all hair types and situations, but is particularly passionate about CURLS!, creatively edgy cuts, vibrant dimensional color, and gender variant expressions.

When not working with hair, Miel can be found designing and making clothing, studying astrology, fermenting food, reading speculative fiction, and hanging out with her canine life partner, Poozy. She is a Virgo sun with an Aries rising, Libra moon, and Virgo north node.
